Important Information

Please ensure you child's inhaler is renewed. Your child's teacher will inform you when they are close to running out. 

Yoga club has now finished. Thank you for coming your behaviour was outstanding.

 

Class Dojo

Our class reward system is Class Dojos. Children can earn them for having a positive attitude towards their work, effort, a high standard of work, teamwork, caring for others, challenging themselves and many more. Children will be rewarded with prizes / certificates. However, class dojos can also be lost for unacceptable behaviour, lack of  homework etc. 

 

 


 

Homework

Homework will be given out every Wednesday. Your child will recieve a Maths and English task to complete by Friday. Home readers will be sent home weekly. Please bring your reading logs in at least once a week to be signed by your child's class teacher.

 

 

 


 

Attendance

We aim for 100% attendance in every class. We want our children in school each day so that they have every opportunity to learn and develop in order to reach their full potential. Dojos are given each week for 100% attendance. 

 

 


 

Snacks

Children can bring in a healthy snack each day to take onto the playground with them. Good examples are any fruit / vegetables, cheese, toast. Please don't bring in chocolate bars, biscuits, cereal bars or crisps as SMAAA is a healthy school. 

 


 

School Dinners

Children can bring in a packed lunch or choose from a range of sandwiches, jacket potatoes or hot dinners.

P.E. Kits

Year 4's P.E. day is Thursday each week. Children should come to school in their P.E. kits which should include the following:

- Yellow T shirt

- Royal Blue shorts or dark blue or black tracksuit bottoms

- Jumper/cardigan

- Trainers or school black pumps

Mathematics

We are learning to add and subtract numbers with up to 4 digits. Pupils will also use their estimation and inverse skills to check if their answer is correct. They will then use these skills to solve two step word problems. 

English 

We are currrently reading Mouse Bird Snake Wolf by David Almond. We are enjoying the story and we are also enjoying looking at the illustrations by David McKean becuase they are very unusual.  Pupils will write to the main characters advising them to be careful when creating new creatures. They will also use their inference skills to predict what will happen next. 

History 

Anglo Saxons 

This term we are looking at the Anglo Saxons. We are looking at why the Anglo Saxons invaded Britain and how Britain changed as a result. We will also discover what life was like during Anglo Saxon times and explore the jobs people had during this period. 

Art 

Pupils will use elements of William Morris' work to create their own print. By the end of this topic pupils will be able to use everyday objects to create prints that mimic the environment. They will create their own masterpiece using the skills they have gained through this topic.

Science

 

RE 

Gift 

By the end of this topic pupils will have explored the gifts of love and friendship. They will be able to use relgious words and phrases to describe some of the actions which help Christians prepare for Advent. Pupils will also be able to retell the story of the birth of Jesus.

PSHE

We are focusing on the importance of relationships and how they can impact  our lives on and offline. Pupils will learn about the link between rights and responsibilities and that we should treat everyone with respect. By the end of this topic pupils will know how to report negative relationships.

 

RSE 

Physical 

By the end of this topic pupils will have explored and embraced their own and eachother's differences. They will also plan an act of worship celebrating our differences and appreciating that God's loves us and accepts us as we are. 

Spanish

By the end of this topic pupils will be able to say and recgonise places in town. Pupils will also be able to read,say and follow commands.
